Zamalek’s First and Only Cinema Opens This Eid Al-Adha
Living in Zamalek is amazing and all, which is exactly why it’s easy to get stuck in it. We’re not complaining, we want to get stuck in the Zamalek bubble. We walk in its streets, hang out at its cafes, eat from its restaurants, party at its clubs. But what does a Zamalek person do when they want to go the cinema? Sadly, they need to leave their island and embark on an adventure to fight the city’s traffic, and eventually after an hour and a half if you’re lucky, you make it to the movies…but not anymore.
Zamalek is finally getting a cinema. Yes, you read that right. It’s called Zamalek Cinema, and it will be located on 13 Shagaret El Dor Street. The cinema will open its doors to everyone on Eid Al-Adha’s very first day, thanks to Osman Group Cinemas. “Zamalek always deserved a cinema. We only started on it a month ago, and we’ve done the best we could with the amount of time we had; renovation-wise. It also helped us that the actual place used to be an old theater. In a way, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue,” Hussein Osman, the owner tells us.
We’re over the moon excited for our favorite island to get its first and only cinema, and we can’t wait to see it get filled with people. Zamalek Cinema will be a single screen cinema, with over 300 stall seats and 100 balcony seats. “We will continue to renovate the place throughout the year as we still have lots of big plans for it,” Osman tells us. He also added that Hamlet Fraser will be the first movie that they’ll show on the official opening day.
WE SAID THIS: If you, like us, can’t wait till Eid to check out Zamalek Cinema, they’ll be having a three-day free private screenings of Finding Dory and Jason Bourne at 1 PM and 3 PM or 6 PM and 9 PM on September 8th, 9th and 10th. All you have to do is say the promo code “Scoop Empire” once you arrive to enter for free.
