A while back, Turki Al Alshikh revealed one of his most ambitious entertainment projects yet: Al Amir, a large-scale Arabic action-thriller series bringing together some of the biggest names from the Arab world and beyond. Set to be filmed across Cairo and Riyadh’s Al-Hisn Big Time Studios, the production immediately grabbed our attention thanks to its impressive cast, international scope, and high-stakes storyline. As anticipation continues to build, here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming series.
A Collaboration Backed by Major Industry Players
Al Amir is backed by Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and is being produced by Sela Studios in partnership with MBC Group and streaming platform Shahid.
The six-episode series is based on an original concept by Turki Al Sheikh, with the screenplay penned by acclaimed Egyptian writer Salah El Jheiny, known for crafting gripping action-packed narratives.

The Story Is Packed With Espionage and Suspense
If you’re a fan of undercover missions, secret identities, and edge-of-your-seat action, Al Amir sounds like it will deliver. The series follows an Egyptian intelligence officer tasked with infiltrating a dangerous international terrorist network. T
o stop a devastating attack, he is forced to assume the identity of one of the world’s most wanted fugitives, leading him into a dangerous double life filled with espionage, international intrigue, and constant threats around every corner.

A Director With Hollywood Action Credentials
Taking the helm is filmmaker Stephen Hopkins, whose credits include the hit television series 24 and the action classic Predator 2.
With extensive experience directing high-intensity thrillers, Hopkins brings a global perspective to the project, raising expectations for the show’s action sequences and cinematic scale.

Ahmed Ezz Leads a Star-Studded Arab Cast
Headlining the series is Ahmed Ezz, one of the Arab world’s biggest action stars. Joining him is a strong lineup of Egyptian talent, including Amina Khalil, Khaled Elsawy, Sammy Sheik, Yasmina El Abd, and Hamza Diab.
With such a diverse cast, the series is expected to balance emotional depth, dramatic tension, and large-scale action.

International Stars Are Also Joining the Mission
One of the biggest surprises surrounding Al Amir is its international cast. Spanish actor Pedro Alonso, beloved by audiences worldwide for his role as Berlin in Money Heist, has joined the project. Also on board are Turkish stars Tuba Büyüküstün and Meryem Uzerli, alongside British actor Paul Anderson.
Their involvement signals the series’ ambitions to appeal to audiences far beyond the region and reinforces its global production scale.

Filming Will Span Egypt and Saudi Arabia
The production is set to be filmed across multiple locations in Cairo as well as Riyadh’s state-of-the-art Al-Hisn Big Time Studios.
Combining real-world locations with advanced studio facilities should allow the series to create the kind of globe-trotting atmosphere often seen in major international spy thrillers.

Following the Buzz of 7 Dogs
Al Amir arrives on the heels of another major Turki Al Sheikh project, 7 Dogs. The Saudi-filmed action blockbuster, also based on a story by Al Sheikh and led by Ahmed Ezz, recently made headlines following its star-studded premiere in Cairo.
With 7 Dogs already generating significant buzz, expectations are naturally high for what Al Amir could bring to the region’s growing entertainment industry.

From its international cast and Hollywood director to its espionage-filled storyline and ambitious production scale, Al Amir is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Arabic series on the horizon.
While many details are still under wraps, everything we’ve seen so far points to a project determined to push regional television into blockbuster territory. Until more is revealed, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
