If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get moving, a little fresh sea air might do the trick! The 2026 Alexandria Marathon is returning on Friday, November 6, bringing runners of all levels together for a morning of sports, stunning coastal views, and a chance to explore the city on foot.
Organized by Alex Runners in collaboration with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Women Studies and Social Transformation Program, the marathon will start and finish at the iconic Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

And the route itself is worth getting up early for! Runners will make their way along Alexandria’s famous Mediterranean Corniche, with the sea breeze by their side, passing some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, including the historic Qaitbay Citadel, built on the site of the legendary Pharos Lighthouse.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just in it for the experience, there’s a distance for everyone. The 42K Full Marathon kicks off at 5:00 AM, while the 21K Half Marathon and 10K races begin at 6:00 AM.

There are also shorter options, including a 5K, a 2K Youth and Family Run, and a 500m Kids Race, making it a fun morning for families and runners of all ages.
So, whether you’re chasing a new personal record or simply looking for a different way to enjoy Alexandria, this might be your sign to lace up your sneakers!
