Who Is Ahed Tamimi & Why Is She Such An Important Face For The Palestinian Cause?
22-year-old Palestinian resistance icon Ahed Al Tamimi was detained today by Israeli forces in the West Bank-occupied territory. The Israeli police had raided her house before arresting her upon charges of ‘inciting terrorism’.
Following her arrest, the spokesperson of the Israeli Military wrote on his X, formerly Twitter account after Tamimi’s detention celebrating IDF efforts, and accusing Tamimi with expressing sympathy and support for Nazism on social media.

The social media post in question is an Instagram story that is claimed to be fabricated by IDF. The story reads:
“Come on settlers, we will slaughter you. We are waiting for you in all the cities of the West Bank. What Hitler did to you was a joke. We will drink your blood and eat your skulls. We are waiting for you.”
Interestingly, there are several fake social media accounts claiming to have the identity of Tamimi. Moreover, the account on which the story in question was posted was blocked.
Since the outbreak of the Genocide in Gaza, 150 Palestinians have been martyred in the occupied West Bank among them is Tamimi’s father.

Tamimi’s name, her long curly blond hair, and her courageous character have long been associated with the Palestinian resistance. People know her for attacking an Israeli soldier when she was only 14. She was imprisoned for eight months in 2017 when she was 16 years old. After her release in 2018, she co-authored her autobiography “They Called Me a Lioness” with journalist Dena Takturi which documents her prison experience and much more.
