“I Will Not Leave My Lovely Strip Behind”: Palestinian Journalist Motaz Azaiza Responds To Threats
Photojournalist Motaz Azaiza who is admired by millions had his life drastically changed in the past forty days ever since the start of the attacks on Gaza. In October he lost 15 members of his family in an airstrike, now his physical and mental health is deteriorating like hundreds of thousands in Gaza.

Yesterday he wrote on X platform, formerly Twitter: “I received many threats and offers to stop, to leave, to surrender, to have the good life. Never gonna leave my lovely strip behind and if I’m gone, there are brothers behind to continue showing the world the RAW realities.”

In an earlier Instagram post, Azaiza posted three weeks ago, he was asking for international protection as an independent photographer not working for any media group. He said, “Dreamed to travel the world and share the stories from the different globe and for his bad luck, the dream could not come true.”
Same as Azaiza, journalist and photographer Saleh Al Jafrawi has been receiving threats. Now on the list of wanted people by the IDF which puts him at great risk. Until today, November 21, 45 Palestinian journalists died since October 7, as reported by the Committee to Protect Journalists CPL.
