Zamalek FC Secures Second Confederation Cup Title Against RS Berkane

Egypt’s Zamalek claimed the African Confederation Cup title after defeating visitors RS Berkane 1-0 at Cairo Stadium on Sunday. The Moroccan side finished the match with ten players.

Zamalek started strong, pressuring RS Berkane early. Nabil Emad and Ibrahima Ndiaye both missed chances in the opening minutes.

Ahmed Hamdi scored after receiving a back pass from Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed in the 23rd minute. RS Berkane’s attacks were ineffective, and Zamalek controlled the game’s pace.

Despite losing the first leg 2-1 in Morocco, Zamalek won the Confederation Cup title on away goals after a 2-2 aggregate draw.

This is their second title, with their previous win in 2019 also against RS Berkane.

In that year, they beat the Moroccan team in a penalty shootout after both legs ended in 1-0 victories for each side.

The victory was celebrated with vibrant support from fans, who filled the stadium with cheers and joy as their team secured the trophy.
