Visitors Are Flying in to Egypt From All Over the Globe to Witness This Ancient Astronomical Event
Mark your calendars; the 21st of December will witness a special shaft of sunlight illuminating the usually dark temple. An astronomical phenomenon that happens every summer and winter is going to take place this weekend in the ancient complex of Karnak Temple, located in the southern Egyptian city of Luxor.
Starting at 6:00 am and marking the first day of winter according to ancient Egyptians, thousands of tourists will gather to watch the spectacular event that’s sure to leave visitors breathless.
Luxor’s governor said in a statement, “The phenomenon is one of the most important events that we are seeking to utilize, in order to revive tourism and spread knowledge about the ancient Egyptian civilization”.
