It’s International Friendship Day, which means it’s time to appreciate the friends who have been there through everything—from awkward phases and dramatic fallouts to questionable decisions that probably should have stayed in the group chat.
And because Egyptian movies and series have given us some of the most iconic friendships, we’re looking at the duos that represent every kind of best friend. The one who accepts you exactly as you are, the one who basically adopts you into their family and, of course, the one who gets you into trouble but refuses to leave you there alone.
El Kabeer Awy — Johnny & Hagras
The friend who would know it’s you even if your clone was standing right beside you.
Johnny and Hagras are one of El Kabeer Awy’s funniest duos. While Johnny is constantly coming up with dramatic Western-inspired ideas that do not always fit into village life, Hagras is usually right beside him, ready to support the plan without fully understanding what is going on.

EgyBest — Mohamed & Saber
The friend you experience the good, the bad and every “how did we get here?” moment with.
Mohamed and Saber begin as two friends from El-Marg with an idea that eventually grows into one of the Arab world’s biggest platforms for pirated films. Their journey takes them through success, pressure and the complicated realities of the digital world.
They are the kind of friends who go through every stage together. When things are going well, they celebrate together. When everything falls apart, they are still standing next to each other—possibly blaming one another, but together nonetheless.
Saheb Sahbuh — Gad & Osama
The childhood friend who always has your back—even when you decide to have a serious conversation with an ostrich.
Gad and Osama have been friends for life. When they receive an opportunity to work in the Gulf, their friendship is tested by distance and responsibility. One travels while the other stays behind to take care of their families, but their bond remains strong.

Ashab Wala Business — Karim & Tarek
