Kuwaiti racing driver Jaber AlSabah has just added his name to the country’s motorsport history books. The 16-year-old, who competes in the British Formula 4 Championship, claimed his first victory of the season in Race 3 of Round 6 at Thruxton Circuit in the UK, becoming the first Kuwaiti driver ever to win a Formula 4 race. The victory also marks only the second race win in British F4 history for his team, Xcel Motorsport.
The breakthrough victory capped off an impressive weekend for Sheikh Jaber Athbi AlSabah. Before taking the checkered flag, he secured pole position after topping qualifying and stepped onto the Rookie podium twice, showing strong pace throughout the event.
Reflecting on the milestone, AlSabah expressed his excitement on Instagram:
The race was very hard, but I got to show my and the team’s hard work. It’s a great feeling.
For AlSabah, the win is the latest milestone in a journey that began at just 12 years old. After discovering karting at Kuwait Motor Town, he quickly realized racing was more than a hobby; it was the career he wanted to pursue.
That dream has now brought him to British Formula 4, a championship widely regarded as one of the first major stepping stones on the road to Formula 1.
