A heartfelt exchange between a young Palestinian girl in Gaza and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has captured the attention of millions online, turning a simple video into a powerful moment of solidarity.
Palestinian child Layan AlQuqa, who has built a following on social media by documenting everyday life in Gaza, recently shared a video showing herself alongside local artists unveiling a large mural of Sánchez. Painted on the wall of a bombed-out building, the artwork featured both the Palestinian and Spanish flags as well as the World Cup as a tribute to Spain’s support for Palestinians.
In the video, Layan expressed her love and appreciation for Spain’s solidarity and said she hoped her message would reach the Spanish prime minister.
To the surprise of many, including Layan herself, it did.
In a video response that has since gone viral, Sánchez thanked Layan and the artists for their touching gesture, saying he was deeply moved that they found a moment to send such kindness despite the immense hardship they are living through.
He also reaffirmed his support for the children and families of Gaza, ending his message with heartfelt words:
The entire Spanish society hears you, sees you, loves you, and does not forget you.
Layan later shared her reaction to Sánchez’s reply, expressing her gratitude and saying she never expected a prime minister to respond to her video personally. She described the gesture as incredibly humble and thanked him for taking the time to acknowledge her message.
The exchange has resonated widely online, with many praising the interaction as a rare and deeply human moment amid the ongoing conflict.
