Spotify has grown its ecosystem to be officially integrated into ChatGPT conversations. This allows users to discover and play music and podcasts directly within the AI chat interface, transforming the music discovery experience.
The feature is available to both Free and Premium Spotify users worldwide. Once users link their Spotify accounts within ChatGPT, they can prompt the AI for music or podcast recommendations based on mood, genre, or artist. ChatGPT responds with personalized suggestions, each linking directly to the Spotify app for instant playback.

It can also be requested to create a road trip playlist, explore specific artists from a user’s heavy rotation, or find podcasts for focus or relaxation. The integration builds on Spotify’s existing recommendation features like Discover Weekly, Daylist, and its AI DJ, extending its personalization strategy into conversational AI.
The integration is currently available in English in 145 countries, covering Free, Plus, and Premium tiers on both web and mobile devices.
Alleviating Concerns
Spotify has also taken steps to address content and data protection concerns associated with AI integrations. The company emphasized that it won’t share any music, podcasts, or other audio or video content from its platform with OpenAI for model training purposes.
The integration is designed solely for playback and discovery to make sure that the intellectual property of artists and creators remains protected.
“Connecting Spotify to ChatGPT is opt-in, and you’re always in control: You can connect or disconnect at any time,” Spotify said.
The Integration Mania
Expect more apps to pop up in ChatGPT conversations as OpenAI’s integration with Spotify is only a part of a broader wave of partnerships unveiled during its latest rollout of in-chat apps. The company is teaming up with major consumer brands—including Expedia, Instacart, and Zillow—as it shifts toward embedding ChatGPT into routine digital experiences.
