A Historic First: Fresh Water For Horses And Camels At The Pyramids
In a groundbreaking move, horses and camels at the pyramids in Egypt are finally being given fresh water for the first time! All the way at the Giza plateau, six large tubs arrived to get filled up with fresh water to help horses and camels stay hydrated.
This is a major step that will lead to better care for these animals, marking a crucial milestone in animal welfare at one of the world’s most iconic landmarks.
Orascom, the leading global engineering and construction contractor, and Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities were big parts of the project. They helped to provide the space for the water tubs, knowing that the Giza Plateau is a historical site with many tourists moving in and out of it.
Once the place was secured, the water tubs were carried to their destination, filled with fresh water, and immediately consumed by the horses and camels. Beyond this milestone, Orascom plans to build a walkway for the horses and camels so that they don’t have to walk on roads lined with asphalt.
With time, there could be a boost in the overall welfare and health of Giza animals.
