David Galbraith Pays Tribute to the UAE With Incredible Clock Collection

With all certainty, clocks assist us in keeping track of time, but is that their sole purpose? Making clocks is an art in and of itself, there are many artists all over the world who create magnificent clocks that depict a specific historical period and convey numerous meanings. Regardless, today we’ll be talking about one of the most talented artists who create clocks, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before!

David Galbraith began his career as an artist, then went on to work as a designer for several years, eventually reaching the position of creative director. But, after more than four decades in the business, he realized he needed to shift his focus away from career highlights and towards defining his legacy. He told Gulf Business that his fascination with clocks began when he was 12 years old, when he went to Salisbury Cathedral to see the world’s oldest clock, which was created in the 14th century, and it completely captivated and encouraged him to work on them!

Around the same time as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) celebrated its 50th anniversary, Galbraith created some of his most famous works. This is a country Galbraith has been familiar with since the 1970s when he released a series of clocks to honor the country’s golden jubilee.

The UAE’s 50th Anniversary Restricted Edition Navigator Clock, which is limited to only 50 pieces, has all of those photographs at the base, as well as a white dial on an 18-carat yellow gold-plated clock. A UAE 50th anniversary version in the Carriage Clock design with identical art is also available.

This is simply the beginning of Galbraith’s new chapter, which will flourish and leave a legacy not only in Europe but also in the Middle East, for his authentic and one-of-a-kind clocks that, if anything, demonstrate innovation at its best!
