An Escape To Villas D’Egypte: A Gated Estate Of Charm & Comfort in Cairo

Set against a verdant canopy of towering trees where specks of sunlight filter through emerald leaves is Villas D’Egypte, the gated estate where two gorgeous villas offer a unique stay for nature-loving guests. Back in 1980, a student of Hassan Fathy, known as Mohamed Raouf El Hosseini, built one of the two villas. We had the pleasure of visiting the estate in Cairo’s Mansoureya suburb during a company retreat.

A Leisurely Stroll

It is the ultimate escape from the hustle and bustle of daily Cairo life. On arriving, we found ourselves enveloped by a comfortable silence. Strolling through the idyllic holiday retreat, we got to walk across floating square steps over crystal blue pools and even lay down on their outdoor wicker bed set among a large outdoor seating area.

A Look Inside

The villas themselves continued to enwrap us in that very same cozy and comforting feel. Exuding antique charm, white-washed walls overtake its interiors. Within its spacious rooms, wooden accents take over its built-in shelves and tables while patterned carpets dominate its floors.

At the kitchen, beams of light stream in through its massive bay windows, overlooking a view of interlinked branches speckled with greenery. Rooms abound for guests to rest, with five en-suite bedrooms and one family suite with two bedrooms. Many of the rooms have two-sided doors that open out to the green space outside.

In that very accommodation, guests get access to many features, including Wi-Fi, a 24/7 butler, concierge service, travel assistance, grocery shopping service, and daily housekeeping. Guests also get access to a TV room, a library as well as table tennis.

On stepping outside the villa, after exploring its interiors, it was time to experience the culinary world of Villas D’Egypte.

A Taste Of Homemade Cuisine

As the sun was approaching the horizon, we all took our seats on an extended wooden table below an enchanting brick archway on the porch. Rich hues of amber and chestnut dominated the wooden table along with the rich assortment of dishes ranging from colorful salads to plates of juicy grilled chicken.

It felt like dining at home, as the dishes themselves were simple yet infused with flavors that left a lasting impression on all who were seated.

With massive, endless greenery, spacious rooms, and the feeling of a home away from home, Villas D’Egypte will appeal to anyone craving an escape to a world unlike that of Cairo.
