Ane’s Closet: Fierce, Edgy and Egyptian

Sexy and fierce! Those are just some of the thoughts that went through our heads when we bumped into the newest clothing brand to hit Cairo, Ane’s Closet. The brand’s first collection fuses winter with street-wear, and the results are amazing. Think sweatshirts that are edgier than Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video, and much, much more.

The brand was founded by three best friends: Amal Adel, Eman Adel and Nada Mounir. Their first collection is titled Vogue It Up. Which is apt, because we can totally imagine ourselves Vogue-ing it up with their ripped-sleeves tops and oh-la-la dresses. “It all started when I went to the mall and couldn’t find anything affordable whatsoever. Everything was so expensive, and not worth it. The material were just horrendous,” Amal Adel tells us. “Ane’s Closet isn’t just affordable, but the fabrics that we use are top notch. We want to capture the idea and mentality of clothing brands abroad, but recreate that locally so that instead of people buying from high street international brands, they would buy Egyptian, and we could contribute to pushing the Egyptian industry forward and at one point be able to compete at a global level,” Adel stresses.

With dresses that range from EGP 450 to tops that range from EGP 350, it’s quite refreshing to know that you don’t need to sell your kidney to Vogue up your closet. “We’re also getting ready to launch Vamp It Up, our second collection on Christmas,” Adel tells us. Ane’s Closet also does chokers, because who doesn’t wear them now?
