Zohr Gas Field Production Initiated
An official source at the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said in an official statement that the extraction of the first cubic feet of gas from Zuhr Gas field, which is the largest in the Mediterranean region, is scheduled to take place on the 17 th of December.
According to studies published by the ministry, the first phase is estimated to produce 350 million cubic feet, and it’s planned to rise to 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day until in mid-2018. The peak of production is estimated to be 2.7 billion cubic feet per day by the end of 2019.
The source added that the tests for the gas transmission lines, from the field to the ground receiving station, has started this morning. The control platform was also tested to verify the safety of the lines before the actual production of the field.
