Romo The iPhone Robot

0

So you might have thought that the smartphone game ends with the next best App, or the highest resolution or bandwidth, but there is way more that can be tapped in that market and that’s what the guys at Romotive have been working on for the past couple of years. You might have heard of Romo 1.0, the handmade smartphone robot, that they first released about a year ago, but now they’ve upped their game and released Romo 2.0!!

So what is it anyway? Well we’ve all watched I’Robot, and the idea behind the movie was that having your own robot is the future!  Well this future is kind of starting now! By combining smartphones with a mobile base, Romo becomes your personal robot that does awesome things (telepresence, autonomous navigation, machine vision). And the software for it comes in a format of a normal iOS app distributed through the Apple App Store, so users can download new behaviors and personalities for their robots at the click of a button. In addition to that, anyone can build and distribute new apps for Romo using the Romotive SDK!! (basically you use all the functionality of the robot and build new apps that can be used for the Robot)

Check out what Romo does here: –

The robot base works with iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4th Gen and can be controlled from an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 4th Gen, iPod Touch 5th Gen, iPad 2, iPad 3, or your computer using the latest version of Safari, Opera, Chrome or Firefox!!

The project is still on Kickstarter, looking for backers in order to fund the project. The Romo costs $150 if you pledge now and they’re looking for $100,000 to build and ship these fine little geniuses.

WE SAID THIS: Who doesn’t want a robot, especially one that can be controlled with an iPhone!!!
