Top Tips to Redecorate and Revamp Your House!

If you’re thinking of a big aesthetic change, you’re in the right place. You can plan your revamp with a professional home stager. Professional home stagers know how to play up the strengths of your home, hide its shortcomings and make it appealing to just about everyone. There are several tips to keep in mind when you’re redecorating your house to make it look more appealing and functional.

Look Front and Up

When you start revamping, you should look at two things: the roof and the front door. You can opt for a variety of different roof styles, such as a personalized metal roof, for example. In terms of the front door, that really sets the tone for the whole house. Paint the front door in glossy hues to make it stand out. One thing that should go: an old-fashioned screen door. Get rid of it or replace it with a full-length glass storm door which can be switched out for a screened panel.

Keep Wall Colors Neutral

Neutral walls give you the greatest versatility in the decoration, allowing you to move accessories easily. And if you have two small rooms next to each other, they feel bigger by painting them the same neutral color. Look at a paint line and shift a hue or two up or down for a slight difference from room to room.

Let the Sun Shine Through

You should have a lot of sunshine in your home! Ideally, dressings for windows should be practical and elegant; think sheers combined with tables of full length. If you get a lot of sun in your house, opt for light colors that won’t fade. Cotton, linen, and silk blends are the most popular lightweight fabrics for panels, as they prefer to hang well.

Each Room Should Have a Mirror

You should always have a mirror in the room. Mirrors help open up a small space and add some lightness and depth! But putting one in the wrong place can be nearly as bad as not having one at all. Put mirrors perpendicular to windows on walls, not straight across from them. Hanging a mirror straight in front of a window can actually bounce the light right out of the window.

Use Layered Lighting

Each room should have three types of lighting: ambient, providing overall illumination and often coming from ceiling fixtures, task, often found over a kitchen island or a reading nook; and accent, which is more decorative, highlighting, say, artwork. You should be given at least 3 watts (42 lumens) per square foot for a living room. Keep lighting in mind because this can make or break a room.
