A stacked lineup of Egypt’s hip-hop voices, featuring Abyusif, Mond, Hady Moamer, and Showkey, comes together on the EgyBest soundtrack, crafting an EP that feels just as cinematic as the film itself.
Each artist brings their own distinct fingerprint to the project, but the EP is anchored in social commentary, with every track channeling a different emotion through heavy, layered production. There’s a constant orbit around money as currency, power, and survival. The sound design mirrors that obsession, with dense textures, looping motifs, and beats that feel like they’re stacking in real time.
The EP kicks off with a hazy, introspective opener from Mond, ‘Leeh?’, leaning into disillusionment as it moves between detachment and confrontation, slowly awakening to a harsher version of reality. Abyusif follows with an unexpected flow on ‘Shoghle’, riding a heavily produced, almost chaotic, polyrhythmic beat layered with hard-hitting bass and constantly shifting textures.
Showkey steps in with a catchy flow over an electro-shaabi fusion produced by DJ Totti on ‘Le3bt’, marking a celebratory moment that fits in the film’s most uplifting scene. The closing credits feature a collaboration between Tarek El Sheikh and Hady Moamer on ‘2X1’, a track rooted in street elements and gritty, textured production.
Starring Marwan Pablo in his acting debut alongside Ahmed Malek and Salma Abou Deif, the film leans heavily on its musical backbone to connect with a younger audience, the same generation that grew up knowing (and probably using) EgyBest. Directed by Marwan Abdelmoniem, known for his work on Kira & El Gin and The Blue Elephant, the project explores the digital rebellion behind one of the Arab world’s most infamous piracy platforms.
