Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared a new Likud campaign poster that prominently features New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani alongside some of Israel’s most prominent political opponents.
The giant billboard, displayed in Tel Aviv ahead of Israel’s October 27 election, shows Mamdani alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem.
Across the poster is the slogan: “They want Netanyahu to lose. Do not let them win.”
Mamdani’s inclusion has drawn particular attention, given his increasingly outspoken criticism of Netanyahu and his government.
The New York mayor has said Netanyahu would not be welcome in the city and called for his arrest if he travels to New York for the United Nations General Assembly next month.
“Benjamin Netanyahu is not welcome in New York City, nor is any other war criminal at large,” Mamdani said.
Since taking office at the start of the year, Mamdani has been vocal about the war in Gaza and has repeatedly criticized Netanyahu’s policies. His appearance on the Likud billboard now places him directly alongside figures Netanyahu’s party portrays as threats to Israel.
The poster comes as Netanyahu heads into another closely watched election, with his political future once again on the line. Likud is facing a strong challenge from opposition parties, with recent polling showing the Yashar party holding a narrow lead.
With the Gaza war continuing to shape Israeli politics, the October election could prove crucial in determining whether Netanyahu remains in power, and Mamdani’s inclusion in his campaign messaging shows just how far the New York mayor has entered the Israeli political conversation.
