The 2025 Emmy Awards weren’t just about celebrating television. This year, several stars used the spotlight to bring attention to the genocide in Gaza and call for peace. From red-carpet statements to moving words from the podium, the message of solidarity with Palestine carried through the night.
Jewish Actress Hannah Einbinder Ends Emmy Speech With “Free Palestine”
When Hacks actress Hannah Einbinder won the award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, she ended her speech with two charged words: “Free Palestine.”
Later, in the press room, she explained why she felt compelled to speak up. Einbinder had recently signed a pledge with more than 1,200 others boycotting Israeli film institutions. She also wore a red Artists4Ceasefire pin, a campaign urging the U.S. to push for de-escalation in Gaza.
Javier Bardem Wears a Keffiyeh & Denounces the Genocide
Walking the carpet, Spanish actor Javier Bardem, nominated for Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, wore a Palestinian keffiyeh around his neck — a clear sign of solidarity. He didn’t hold back when asked about it.
“Here I am today, denouncing the genocide in Gaza,” Bardem told the press. He then posed the searing question: “How many hundreds of thousands of dead children we need to see for people to wake up?”
He also pointed to the International Association of Genocide Scholars, which has labeled the violence a genocide, adding that sanctions and diplomatic blockades are needed to stop it. He was blunt about the stakes: “I cannot work with someone who justifies or supports the genocide.”
Meg Stalter Carries a “Cease Fire” Bag on the Red Carpet
While most stars turned heads with sequined gowns and tuxedos, Hacks comedian Meg Stalter went in the opposite direction — blue jeans, a plain T-shirt, and sunglasses. But her accessory stole the spotlight: a black bag with a large taped label reading “CEASE FIRE!”
Explaining her choice to Variety, she said, “It’s the most important to stick up for people and for peace. We have to use our platforms… What’s the point of being at these big events if you’re not going to use your privilege?”
Her look was stripped down on purpose — a sharp contrast to the glittering backdrop of the Emmys. Like Einbinder, Stalter also wore the Artists4Ceasefire pin.

Other Stars Wear Artists4Ceasefire Pins
Several more attendees quietly showed their support. Among them was Aimee Lou Wood from The White Lotus. Each wore the recognizable red Artists4Ceasefire pin, underscoring a united call for an end to the violence.

Emmys Stage Becomes a Platform for Palestine
The Emmys may have been about celebrating television, but this year, the moments that will linger had less to do with statues and more to do with conscience. Stars like Hannah Einbinder, Javier Bardem, and Meg Stalter reminded audiences that these platforms can — and perhaps should — be used for more than career milestones.
In a night filled with applause and glamour, the most unforgettable words were a collective plea for peace, for justice, and for Palestine.
