In Pictures: Thousands Of Protesters Rally In D.C & NY To Support ICJ Case
Thousands of demonstrators rallied in front of Washington’s White House on Saturday, January 13 calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The protest took place in parallel to the ongoing ICJ case, in which South Africa stands against Israel. The latter is accused of genocidal acts and committing war crimes in Gaza.
The protestors came with their Palestine flags and raised signs, some of which included statements against Biden, and others included names and photos in remembrance of martyred Palestinian children.
As part of their protest, they placed plush toys scattered around bricks, symbolizing the death of humanity and childhood in Gaza.
Additionally, the anti-Zionist Neturei Karta, a group of Jews frequently present at these protests in the US, stood united in their ‘bekishe’ uniform. They held signs advocating for the freedom of Palestine and denouncing Israel as a Zionist state.
Earlier this week, New York City bridges and tunnels, including the Brooklyn Bridge and Holland Tunnel, were blocked by demonstrators who were also demanding to end the US military aid to Israel. According to the New York Times, one of the protestors that day commented on the blockage as a way to “show how it feels to be trapped in a city you can’t leave.”
