After a 5 year Ban, Fans Will Be Allowed to Attend Football Cup Games in Egypt
Khaled Abdel-Aziz Egypt’s Sports Minister said on a radio station yesterday that fans will be allowed to attend Egypt Cup games, a move that will end the five-year ban on crowds at domestic football matches. The Egypt cup quarters will witness the comeback of fans after a very long wait.
Football fans have been banned since the death of 74 Ahly supporters in Port said in February 2012. The ban was lifted in 2015, but immediately re-imposed after 20 Zamalek fans died due to tear gas suffocation in a league game against Enppi.
Authorities have permitted a few number of fans to attend African championship and national team games as per FIFA regulations.
