When Bobbi Brown Cosmetics wanted somewhere special for an exclusive dinner in Marrakech, they didn’t head for the usual grand riad or polished hotel. Instead, the beauty brand chose Farasha Farmhouse, a secluded countryside retreat tucked into an olive grove on the outskirts of the city.
And honestly, it makes sense once you see the place.
Farasha feels less like a conventional hotel and more like someone’s incredibly well-travelled, slightly eccentric dream home — part farmhouse, part artists’ retreat, part clubhouse, with a little bit of Ibiza, Austin and Morocco folded into the mix.
Meet Farasha Farmhouse
Hidden among 8.5 acres of olive trees, Farasha Farmhouse sits on a peaceful plateau between two mountain ranges, around 45 minutes from the Marrakech medina.
The name Farasha, meaning “butterfly” in Moroccan Arabic, hints at the idea behind the property: transformation, movement and reinvention.
There are just 11 suites, a 50-metre pool, a regenerative farm, communal dining spaces and plenty of room to simply disappear for a while. It is quiet enough to feel removed from Marrakech, but creative enough that you never quite forget where you are.
From Painter’s Home to Creative Hideaway
The story starts with French painter Patrice Arnaud, whose former residence and atelier once occupied the property.
In 2021, Marrakech-based husband-and-wife duo Fred and Rosena Charmoy — the founders of event and creative production company Boutique Souk — bought the farmhouse after falling for its mountain views, unusual light and bohemian character.
Rather than turn it into another polished luxury stay, they built on what was already there.
The former atelier became two suites, the lower level opened up into living and entertaining spaces, and an old adobe structure was transformed into a private casita. Moroccan artisans, materials and craftsmanship became central to the renovation, giving the farmhouse a sense of place without making it feel overly traditional.
A House Full of Stories
The interiors are where things get especially interesting.
Think smooth tadelakt walls, colourful zellige tiles, shaggy carpets, velvet upholstery and vintage furniture, all mixed together with contemporary Moroccan art.
There are custom pieces from Beni Rugs, installations by Moroccan artist Amine El Gotaibi, and works connected to the creative world of LRNCE.
Even the library has a story. Its collection came from the family estate of legendary American fashion editor Diana Vreeland, donated to Farasha by her son Freck, who served as the US ambassador to Morocco.
And then there’s an old iron orange-juice cart, hand-painted by artist Laurence Leenaert for her own wedding, now permanently living on the farmhouse patio.
Basically, very little here feels like it was bought simply to fill a room.
Why Bobbi Brown Chose It
That mix of beauty, art, design and Moroccan craftsmanship is probably what makes Farasha such a natural setting for an event like Bobbi Brown’s.
The farmhouse was created by people who already knew how to build an atmosphere. Through Boutique Souk, Fred and Rosena spent two decades producing highly styled events, and Farasha feels like the permanent home for all those ideas.
It is designed around gathering: long communal meals, sunset concerts, artist-led installations, ceremonies, wellness experiences and evenings that can stretch well past dinner.
So rather than simply providing a beautiful backdrop for the Bobbi Brown dinner, Farasha already speaks the same language — creative, intimate and a little unexpected.
Come for the Farmhouse, Stay for the Pool
During the day, Farasha is decidedly slower.
Guests can spend the afternoon by the pool overlooking the surrounding countryside, wander through the regenerative farm or retreat into one of the farmhouse’s tactile, retro-leaning suites.
The food follows the same relaxed philosophy, with Moroccan and European flavours served family-style around a long dining table. Much of the produce comes straight from the property’s own garden, making meals feel less like a restaurant service and more like being invited to someone’s very good dinner party.
By evening, the mood shifts. Cocktails appear at Freddie’s Bar, the candles come out and the farmhouse starts to feel less like a country retreat and more like a creative clubhouse.
Marrakech, Just a Little Further Out
There is something refreshing about Farasha’s location.
It is close enough to Marrakech to dip into the city when you want to, but far enough away that the medina feels like another world. Here, the surroundings are mostly olive trees, mountains and sky.
And perhaps that is the real appeal.
Farasha Farmhouse isn’t trying to compete with Marrakech’s grand riads. It offers something completely different: a place where hospitality, art, music, food and wellness can all blur together — where a dinner can become an event, a farmhouse can become a clubhouse, and a quiet few days in the countryside can feel like stepping into a different version of Marrakech.
For Bobbi Brown, it made for an unforgettable setting. For everyone else, it might just be a reason to look beyond the Red City’s usual addresses.
