Amir El Masry Shines At Cannes Film Festival With ‘Club Zero’
Egyptian-British actor, Amir El Masry has been making waves across the entertainment industry through his eclectic projects and the range of characters that he’s managed to take on in a short period of time. From The Crown to Magnouna Beek, El Masry’s latest project ‘Club Zero’ has debuted on May 22 at the Cannes Film Festival, and here’s all you need to know about it.
‘Club Zero’ is directed by Austrian filmmaker, Jessica Hausner; in the form of a thriller, the story follows a teacher at an elite school who forms tight bonds with their students but things take a dark turn.
In the film, El Masry plays a ballet teacher. Though it’s not clear how his character fits into the narrative of the story, it’s clear that he will probably be working at the same school as the main character, played by
El Masry took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s Cannes premiere. He said, can’t place how I feel right now but…What an incredible experience. Major congratulations to the whole cast and crew. We did it!”
This won’t be the first international project from El Masry as in 2020 he started a lot of conversations through ‘Limbo.’ He reunites in ‘Club Zero’ with ‘Limbo co-star, Sidse Babett Knudsen.
