#AdelTermos: The Hero Who Sacrificed His Life in Beirut to Save Hundreds

With all the horror Paris has faced this week, many have over looked similar events that unfolded in Beirut on Thursday. Two suicide bombers were seen on motorcycles in the predominantly Shia area of southern Beirut, killing at least 41 and injuring 200. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, one of the worst Lebanon has endured in recent years. Yet amidst the terror, a hero shone.

Adel Termos and his daughter heard the first bomb, but instead of being overwhelmed by paralyzing fear, when he saw the second bomber, he attacked him, which made his vest detonate earlier than it was supposed to. This selfless and heroic act ended his life, yet saved his daughter and likely hundreds more. These kinds of acts give us hope in humanity during this difficult time and martyrs like Adel Termos deserve all the recognition the world has to offer.
