10 Things That Are Too Real for People Who Grew up in Damietta
Growing up in the small Egyptian city of Damietta, many things are bound to happen. You had to make do with whatever the (very limited) city offered you, whether that meant Googling how to make sushi because sushi restaurants are a foreign concept there, or knowing where each and every furniture store is because they’re literally everywhere.
Even though I now happily live abroad in the UK, I still miss a few things (the good and the bad) about Domiat, so I’ve decided to take a trip down memory lane for things all my fellow Damiettans who grew up there know to be true.
You could literally go ANYWHERE in a cab with 5LE
Sorour Square was where all the cool kids hung out
If you wanted to eat pizza, Pizza Party was your only option
ELS kids hated Sanaweya 3askareya kids more than Harry Potter hated Voldemort and vice versa
Walking by the Lesan was cool AF
Dolphin Inn’s pool days were the absolute best
The only way you could get booze was from a dodgy place called Carlos in Soo2 63
You played football on Share3 53
Going to the KFC at the Gerby was a big deal
And last but not least, furniture stores are literally everywhere!
WE SAID THIS: I kinda miss you, Damietta, but not really.
