We Went to Ice Age Live in Cairo and We Were Blown Away
If you’re anything like the cartoon/animation maniac we are, (or if you have kids), you’ve probably been excited for over a month after the announcement of Ice Age coming live to Cairo!
Just saying “Ice Age” brings back flashbacks of “Food, glorious food!” and “I believe I can fly!”, or one of those lines that have stuck with us until now and still manage to make us laugh. So imagine what it felt like to be given the opportunity to see Manny, Sid, Diego, Scrat, Ellie and even Peaches live!
The show, sponsorde by Huawei and brought to us by Dino Activations in partnership with Stage Entertainment Touring Productions and Twentieth Century Fox, was a huge hit. With dancers coming from 34 different countries and aerial entertainment as well as kung fu happening on ice, every single second of the show was captivating.
The organization, lighting, storyline, effects and decoration were kind of jaw-dropping. Something we’re not used to in Egypt, especially that they only had three days to prepare the arena in the Cairo Stadium after the handball tournament!
But the thing that amazed us the most must have been the costumes. The costumes were remarkable in every sense. Enough to make us stir in our sleep, really wanting to know how the hell they managed to get each character’s eyes to blink! They looked so real.
The costumes were very detailed and literally looked like they came out of the Ice Age movie. It was also interesting to see the construction of the costumes and how when the dancers took them off to do their solo parts, it showed that they were made in a way so that they can stand on their own. The amount of thought, detail and effort that went into the costumes made them so real, it felt like we had been teleported into the pre-historic times of the real ice age.
So if you haven’t been yet, there’s only three days left to bring out the kid in you and see Sid’s moment of glory as the fire king! Oh, and don’t be surprised if Scrat, Diego or any of the angry birds get off the stage and roam around the hall, take advantage of it and take a selfie with them!
This is one show you don’t want to miss! Oh, and ladies, don’t take any perfumes in your handbags. Although, it is not mentioned anywhere on their event pages, they don’t allow them in the hall (the same goes to lighters) and there also isn’t a storage area, so you’ll be saying good bye to your perfumes for good.
