Saudi Arabia Flies Away With Launch Of National Carrier: Riyadh Air
Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman announced on March 12 the launch of Riyadh Air; a new national carrier that aims to benefit from the Kingdom’s strategic geographical location between the three continents of Asia, Africa and Europe, leading Riyadh one step closer to eventually becoming the ultimate global destination for everything that is tourism, trade or transportation focused.
Governor of PIF, Yasir Al-Rymayyan is to chair Riyadh Air in addition Tony Douglas, former CEO of Etihad Airways has been appointed CEO of the fledgling airline.
Moreover, Riyadh Air is set to operate with an eco-friendly mission. Adopting the top sustainability and safety guard standards along with the latest cutting-edge technology to further enhance customers’ journeys while connecting them to over 100 destinations around the world by 2030.
The new airline is expected to add $20bn to non-oil GDP growth and create more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs.
