Royal Aviator & Humanitarian: How Princess Salma Of Jordan Is Providing Aid From The Skies

Through a special showcase of unwavering humanity, princess Salma of Jordan led the fifth airdrop of urgent medical supplies to the North of Gaza. The supplies were delivered to a 40-bed Jordanian field hospital in Gaza that was set up back in 2009 to help boost health services in Palestine. The 23-year-old princess, known as a first lieutenant in the Royal Jordanian Air Force, was part of the crew that carried out the latest airdrop. Along with her humanitarian efforts, she is known to shatter norms including gender inequality.

Back in 2020, she achieved a major historic milestone by becoming the first female jet pilot in the Jordanian Armed Forces. She was able to reach this trailblazing unchartered position for women by successfully completing her preliminary pilot training on a fixed-winged aircraft. As the third child of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, she has been making her parents proud especially her mother, who in a heartfelt post, expressed the pride and admiration she feels for her daughter: “Salma with her brothers in arms of the Royal Jordanian Air Force during the fifth airdrop of urgent medical supplies to northern Gaza. God bless you all.”

Princess Salma is not the only royal figure who is helping to aid Gaza as last month, Jordan’s Crown Prince Hussein oversaw the delivery of medical supplies to another field hospital in Gaza. These kinds of efforts showcase how there is a global united front of public and influential figures who are taking a stand for Palestine.
