Mai Omar just confirmed that she’s joining the Ramadan 2027 series Ashmawy, starring Mohamed Ramadan and Ghada Abdelrazek, which means we’re getting a Mai Omar and Ghada Abdelrazek reunion after more than a decade.
The two actresses have only shared the screen once before, in the hit Ramadan series Hekayet Hayah (2013). Directed by Mohamed Sami, the series was also his final collaboration with Ghada Abdelrazek and marked Mai Omar’s first acting appearance.
The series followed Hayah, played by Ghada Abdelrazek, who was forced into a psychiatric hospital by her family. After 13 years, she escaped and set out to rebuild her life and find her son, who had no idea she was his real mother.
Mai Omar played Walaa, a nurse at the hospital where Hayah was admitted. At first, Walaa seemed to be helping Hayah escape, only for us to discover that she was actually married to Hayah’s doctor, and the two were plotting to scam her.
