Egyptian Student Donates 60% of His Liver to His BFF
Last year, everyone across the globe praised Selena Gomez’s best friend, Francia Raisa, after she donated one kidney to our favorite songstress. No one could believe that this level of selflessness existed. Today, an Egyptian student showed us the true meaning of friendship.
While you might think you’re being an extra special BFF when lending your friend a dress or maybe your car, imagine giving part of your body to your classmate! Mahmoud Abd Allah and Abd Allah Ahmed crossed paths after joining the Faculty of Science at the University of Alexandria. The two young men soon became inseparable, however, life had an ugly turn of events.
After suffering from severe abdominal pain, Abd Allah Ahmed was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that attacked his own liver. The only way to save his life was to find a donor. Finding a match is no walk in the park; it’s a long process with an even longer waiting list. Mahmoud decided to take charge of the situation after realizing he was a match. After a long talk with his mother, the BFF decided to be the donor and save his friend’s life.
After a long and successful surgery, both men recovered just fine, however, reports claim that Abd Allah is still in under observation in the intensive care unit. Minister of Higher Education, Khaled Abel Ghaffar, plans on honoring the two young men for setting a positive example in the community.
