Arab Newsfeeds Are Celebrating the Announcement of a Newly Approved Russian COVID-19 Vaccine
Russian President, Vladimir Putin, announced that Russia has developed the “world’s first” COVID-19 vaccine, after less than two months of human testing. Putin also stated that one of his two daughters had already been vaccinated and “is feeling well”.
The vaccine is yet to complete clinical trials. However, Putin claimed that it works “effectively enough”, during a government meeting today. Despite the vaccine being already registered, phase three trials of the vaccine are set to begin on Wednesday, with Saudi Arabia, UAE, and the Philippines reportedly taking part.
The president’s announcement came amid international concerns over hurrying to introduce an unprepared vaccine to the world for political gain.
