Airbnb Offers Free Housing to Those Affected by the #MuslimBan
Airbnb, the hotel alternative service, is stepping up with a free offer for travelers not allowed into the United States, due to President Donald Trump’s ban on Syrian refugees and immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim nations. On Friday and Saturday, an estimated 100 to 200 people were prohibited from entering the US.
Brian Chesky, co-founder of the company, has tweeted his disapproval of the recent executive orders that were approved by the President of the United States.
“We have 3 million homes, so we can definitely find people a place to stay,” he wrote, asking people to reach out to him via his personal email.
Airbnb relies on a network of thousands of hosts, who rent out rooms, apartments, and entire houses to, essentially, absolute strangers. Its entire business model is predicated on people immersing themselves in a variety of cultures. It also competes directly with a business Trump knows well: hotels.
WE SAID THIS: There’s still hope in this world.
