Tapping into a well of nostalgia, Egyptian pioneer Mohamed Mounir, affectionately known as “The King”, teams up with rap superstar Wegz for a cross-generational single ‘Kalam Forsan.’
Serving as the first single off the highly anticipated Side B of Wegz’s album ‘Aqareb’, ‘Kalam Forsan’ sees Wegz stepping back from his usual rap persona to spotlight his vocals seamlessly, with Mounir’s signature soulful balladry anchoring the track, which unfolds over a churning beat loaded with rumbling sub-bass, shimmering percussion, and an expansive traditional orchestra.
Produced by London-based producer and engineer Tudor Munroe alongside Egyptian producer/engineer Hussein Gamal, both of whom previously contributed across Wegz’s debut album Aqareb. Released via Raad Records, the track arrives with a culturally grounded music video set in a Nubian village, spotlighting unity and joy. Nubian kids play, dance, and connect with the wider Egyptian landscape, carrying their infectious energy all the way to the streets of Cairo.
While Wegz and Mounir have been seen together before, this marks their first musical collaboration, the natural outcome of a long-standing friendship finally taking shape in the studio.
Mounir recently expressed his excitement for the duet in an interview with Lamis El Hadidi on El Soura, saying, “I listen to Wegz, and I have a duet with him very soon. I am happy to be collaborating with a new generation.” He also hinted at future collaborations with Cairokee and frontman Amir Eid. For his part, Wegz has publicly shared his deep admiration for Mounir, previously posting on Instagram about the profound influence The King has had on his life.
