Moroccan Girl Wins AED 500,000 at the Arab Reading Challenge in Dubai!
Brilliant Moroccan student, Maryam Amjoun, was just crowned as the champion of the third edition of the Arab Reading Challenge. She was honored at a special ceremony at the Dubai Opera, where she was presented with a cash prize of AED 500,000 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Amjoun wasn’t the only one who got awarded in the prestigious ceremony. AED 1 million were granted to the Al-Ikhlas School from Kuwait as they received the Outstanding School award to develop its educational capacities.
Moreover, Aisha Al-Tuwairqi from Saudi Arabia won the Outstanding Supervisor title and a cash prize of AED 300,000 in recognition of her efforts as an inspirational teacher. In a similar manner, Tasneem Eidi from France was named the Outstanding Student from Arab Communities Residing in Non-Arab Countries and was granted AED 100,000.
“A river starts with many drops, and the participants of the Arab Reading Challenge are the first drops in the river of knowledge that we look forward to discovering in every corner of the Arab world and beyond. We rely on the reading champions to help us build a knowledge-based future for the region,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
The challenge drew the participation of 10.5 million students from the Arab region and worldwide. Five students qualified for the final round in the two-day semi-finals, held in Dubai with the participation of 16 competitors from the Arab world and Arab communities residing in non-Arab countries.
