This Video of Europeans and Refugees Staring at Each Other Will Make You Cry
Europe’s hesitance to accept more refugees leaves us dumbfounded everyday. We question why a region with so much more wealth and land refuses to take in those escaping war, terror, and death. Amnesty international Poland and Polish ad agency DDB&Tribal put out a Look Beyond Borders video of Europeans meeting Syrian and Somali refugees for the first time and staring into each others eyes for four minutes.
The video exemplifies true human compassion and empathy towards those who lost so much, it reminds us and acts as a wake up call for fearful Europeans that we are all human struggling to survive in this harsh world. The video was shot near Berlin’s Checkpoint Charlie where only foreigners were only allowed to cross during the Cold War where many East Germans had attempted to escape.
