Texting Turns 20!
The first-ever text message was sent December 3, 1992, by software engineer Neil Papworth, to Vodafone director Richard Jarvis, who received the message on his husky Orbitel 901 cell phone. It read simply, “Merry Christmas.”
As of yesterday, the text is no longer in its teens and has become a senior citizen in technology years. Of course SMS has been kind of over shadowed with all the new messaging services that have arised in the last decade due to the smartphone era. And inspite of all the BBms and Whatsapps and Vibers, SMS will always live on and is still the basis to messging on mobile networks.
WE SAID THIS: We all remember our first SMS experience, and we just miss the simplicity of it all back then…
