RTA Reports Over 6.7M Public Transport Users During Eid Al Adha
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported a significant increase in public transportation usage during the recent Eid Al Adha holiday. From June 15 to 18, 2024, over 6.7 million passengers used public transport, shared transport, and taxis, surpassing last year’s figure of approximately 6.4 million.
Transportation Usage Breakdown
During the holiday, the Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines were the most used, with 2.5 million passengers. Public buses carried 1.4 million riders, while marine transport options recorded 280,000 passengers.
Taxis remained crucial, transporting 2 million people, and shared transportation vehicles saw over 350,000 riders. Additionally, the tram was used by over 101,000 passengers, showcasing the diverse and comprehensive nature of Dubai’s transportation network.
Year-on-Year Comparison
This year’s figures show an increase from the previous year’s 6.4 million passengers, continuing a trend of rising public transport use. Last year’s numbers were already 14% higher than in 2022 when 5.6 million passengers were recorded.

These rising numbers reflect the RTA’s investments in expanding and improving Dubai’s transportation network. The diverse range of transport options and enhanced services have made public transportation more convenient and attractive for residents and visitors.
