My Two Cents on: The Storyteller

Jodi Picoult is by far one of my favorite authors. She’s got this way of making you rethink things you probably wouldn’t have even thought of before. As complicated as that may have sounded, pick up one of her books and you’ll understand. She takes controversial subjects and rocks your world with it.

“But the movie, My Sister’s Keeper was so bad” – yeah, I know right? What a disaster of a film. It’s a shame too because the book was incredible – and had a much different ending.

Anyway, Jodi just released her newest book, “The Storyteller”. I downloaded it straight to my Kindle without even reading what it was about. It’s Jodi, you can’t go wrong. It was one of those books that you take to the bathroom and find your butt numb 45 minutes later because you got too into it.

Without spoiling too much – it’s a story of a baker with a sad story that finds comfort in conversation and chess games with an old man and his dog. He asks her for a favor that I pray no one will ever ask me for and shares his story that will blow you away. The story is full of affairs, monsters, Nazis, and deliciously described baked goods. A combination, I never thought could exist. You will finish this book understanding the Holocaust from the point of view of a soldier and a prisoner.

I’ll stop here before I share too much. Pick it up and let me know what you think.
