Flying Electric Boats Anyone? Meet the Kingdom’s Newest Mode of Transport
From a massive 26,500 km² smart city called Neom to the country’s very own space agency, the Kingdom is getting more and more advanced as we speak. Now, the latest dive into cool and exciting tech is their plan to shuttle their visitors around the desert megacity atop flying electric boats.
What Are These Flying Electric Boats?
These flying electric boats already exist and are being used in countries like Sweden. They are designed by Candela, a boat-building company in Sweden that rethinks and reimagines efficiency in marine transportation.
Their flying electric boats use controlled hydrofoils (the underwater fin on a boat) to automatically lift the boat out of the water, allowing the batteries to last much longer.
The great thing about these boats is that they are usually lifted above the water, which means they offer a much smoother and more comfortable journey than normal boats, even on choppy water. They are also more comfortable for people who get seasick.
The Kingdom Is Getting A Candela P-12
When it comes to the Kingdom, they are planning on getting the Candela P-12, which is the model that Saudi Arabia plans to use in their future megacity, Neom. So far, they have bought eight P-12s, which are expected to arrive in the Kingdom starting next year.
