Eid Cinema Extravaganza: Must-See Films Of The Holiday Season
Every year, a collection of films gets produced specially for the Eid break. They take over cinemas across Egypt and usually include a big cast with hilarious roles. This year is no different, with more than five films arriving during the break. These are the ones we are looking forward to:
Fasel Men El Lahazat El Lazeeza
This Ramadan, Hesham Maged and Asmaa Galal brought us the comedy gem ‘Asghal Shaqa’. That’s why it’s exciting to see Maged take on another comedy flick, and this time with comedic stars like Bayoumi Fouad and Mohamed Tharwat.
“Fasel Men El Lahazat El Lazeeza” is all about a married couple, played by Maged and Hana El Zahed, who live a sad life until a surprise event changes the course of their lives.
Benedar Zorofak
Many believe that love conquers all, even in the face of challenges. That’s the premise of Ahmed El Fishawy and Mai Selim’s new film, Benedar Zorofak, about testing love between a couple who come from different social and financial backgrounds, with the hanging question being, “Will love prevail?”
Land Of Hell
We will be seeing Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe like we’ve never seen her before, as she stars in “Land Of Hell” alongside Bayoumi Fouad. Set in the 90s, it explores the life of a man who comes from simple means until he meets someone who uses technology to earn money. From there, his life’s trajectory changes for the better.
Death Team
Bringing a taste of action to the Eid cinema screens is “Death Team,” starring Ahmed Ezz, Asser Yassin, Menna Shalabi, Bayoumi Fouad, and Essam Omar. When diving into the story revolves around an officer (Ahmed Ezz) who gets chosen to form a team to eliminate the influence of an infamous criminal in Upper Egypt known as Khat El Sayeed.
We Lena Fee Khayal El Hob
For lovers of romance, this is the film for you, starring Mayan El Sayed, Ahmed El Sa’dany, and Omar Rozik. It’s your typical love triangle set within a university as El Sayed juggles her new love for her professor (Sa’dany) and her current relationship with Rozik’s character.
Sheko
With a massive cast of all-stars, including Amina Khalil, Dina El Sherbiny, Amr Youssef, Youssra, and many more, Sheeko is gearing up to be the Eid movie of the season. It’s about a ragtag group of friends who are involved in criminal activity. The film is said to be inspired by Chuck Hogan’s Prince of Thieves.
Seeing how this year’s films offer a mix of genres, big-time actors, and exciting plots, we are excited to spend our Eid break at the cinema with our trusty tub of popcorn.
