Absolut Vodka Blocks Egypt

Who would of thought the day would come in which Absolut Vodka would block Egypt and not the other way around.

Yes most people feared the results of our most recent democratic elections and it’s effects on the lifestyles of those who drink & go out and party. Till this day (knock on wood) those liberties have yet to be touched. So why in the world is Absolut Vodka’s site blocking Egypt?

Log on to www.absolut.com and this message appears:

Ummm Absolut, do you not know that your own franchisers advertise for your brand in our magazines here? Do you not know that there is online advertising of local Egyptian alcohol on Egyptian websites? Do you not know that there are billboards to all our beach locations with Alcohol ads? So who exactly is restricting your marketing capabilities?

We smell some kind of biased B.S. if you ask us! So in our attempt to prove the problem is coming from Absolut we logged into Grey Goose’s website and low and behold we can log in!!!

Hmmm wonder what that means? Do they not have a problem marketing to our fundamentalist selves?
