Mustafa, originally from Kafr Al-Manazla in Damietta, made history in 2015 when she won first place worldwide in Intel ISEF’s Earth and Environmental Sciences category. Competing against 1,700 participants from 87 countries, her groundbreaking project focused on converting rice straw into clean energy.

An Asteroid Named After Her

Yasmine Mustafa was only 17 when NASA recognized her efforts within the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences by naming an asteroid “31910 Mustafa” in her honor, cementing her legacy as a pioneering scientist.

A Role Model for Students

Mustafa’s story was featured in a book published by Heinemann, with over a million copies distributed in schools and universities worldwide. She also appeared on the cover of Egypt’s secondary school English textbook, serving as a role model for young students. 

The idea is that students get to see Yasmine Mustafa, who shares the same upbringing and background as many of them, proving that success is achievable regardless of where you come from.
