Update: Coronavirus Spreads as First Cases Confirmed in the UAE
On Wednesday morning, people in the UAE woke up to the news of the first confirmed cases of the new coronavirus that has killed at least 135 people and infected around 6,000, worldwide.
The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced that coronavirus was detected in a family of four arriving from the Chinese city, Wuhan. The ministry stated that “the health condition of those infected is stable and under medical observation”.
According to The National, “the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention urged residents not to panic”.
In other news, Turkey has announced that it will evacuate 32 of its nationals and their families from Wuhan, due to the risk posed by the coronavirus outbreak.
To date, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet declared it as a global health emergency.
