Unlocking the UAE’s First Legal Casino: A Sneak Peek into Wynn Al Marjan’s Grand Debut

The UAE has been having many ‘firsts’ for some time now. They usually excel at architectural firsts, including being home to the tallest building in the world.

These days, however, they are taking a slight detour and instead ticking off other kinds of firsts, such as their first-ever alcohol brewery.

Joining in tow, the UAE has been working on constructing the MENA region’s first-ever legal casino destination: the Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort and Casino.

A Look At The Resort

The Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort and Casino is a massive project. So far, $3.9 billion has been invested in the landmark destination.

Once constructed, it will feature 1,500 luxurious rooms, a spacious theater for live performances, and 24 dining and lounge experiences.

The US-based hotel operator known as Wynn Resorts is the one behind the development of the resort. They are planning on bringing to life their first beachfront resort in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) that spans a 62-hectare island.

The Casino

The casino itself is expected to be much larger than its Las Vegas counterpart. The UAE has been taking major steps to this end, including establishing a gaming and lottery regulatory authority just this week. This authority should help legalize gaming in the UAE.

Known as the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), some of their first steps include approving the UAE’s first lottery licenses and unveiling comprehensive casino and gambling regulations.

Along with that, they also launched an official website that provides detailed information on the future of gaming in the UAE, which includes information on casino licenses and slot machines.

When Will It Open?

The resort and casino will debut by the beginning of 2027, so in the meantime, you can learn more about the world of gaming in the UAE through the official website as we get closer to the Emirates’ transformation.
