Under the Spotlight: ‘Khaled Nour Wa Waldo Nour Khaled’ and the Nuclear Plant Controversy
Any TV show featuring Chico and Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz has to be a comedy gem. It’s the show to watch for a good laugh. The thing is, this Ramadan’s ‘Khaled Nour Wa Waldo Nour Khaled’ is apparently not for everyone.
After just six episodes were released, the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plant Authority demanded the show be removed.
You must all be wondering why…
Well, they believe that the show is packed with false information about nuclear power plants. Diving into the show, it revolves around a time gap caused by an explosion in the nuclear reactor, which led to Khaled Noor (Abdel Aziz)and his son Noor Khaled (Chico) ending up being one year apart in age.
The Nuclear Power Plant Authority thinks the show paints the wrong picture of nuclear power plants. However, the world isn’t convinced. Many don’t actually think that a nuclear power plant explosion plays with time, and the show isn’t going to convince us otherwise.
It’s a show, at the end of the day, totally fictional, and even the characters and plot are nonsensical and fun.
Many people took to social media, saying the whole thing was being blown out of proportion. Others say that the show is pure science fiction, while others question whether Egypt even has a power plant.
Fun fact: A nuclear power plant is actually being built at El Dabaa and is expected to be completed by 2026. So Egypt is entering into the world of nuclear energy pretty soon.
All in all, amidst the ongoing debate with the Nuclear Power Plant Authority on one side and the general public on the other, what do you think of the situation?
