UAE Donates Dhs 184 Million to Assist Palestinian Refugees
According to Emirates Woman, the UAE continues to support Palestinian refugees and help improve their lives with a donation that reached Dhs 184m. The UAE donated the money to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The donations are going to massively contribute to the improvement of various sectors like education and health services to more than five million Palestinians. The UAE has actually been one of the most prominent donors to UNRWA in the international community, especially during the current financial difficulties the organization has been facing after US President Donald Trump announced last year that he’ll cut all financial aid to UNRWA.
As a way to counter-effect the difficult situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation recently released a statement praising the never-ending efforts of UNRWA.
The Arab governments have long been a huge support for the Palestinian cause. For the past two years they have collectively contributed over Dhs 1.1bn ($300m). All went to fund education and supply power to hospitals and many other services.
