Tips for Dubai Color Runners
By 1pm this Saturday, the Dubai Autodrome and anyone inside it will look like a Jackson Pollock painting on acid.
The Color Run, a 5K celebration of health and dip-dyed happiness, is hitting the UAE this weekend, so we’ve compiled a handy list of tips for all you color runners participating.
- Bring a towel: You’ll need it for the ride back! Leave it in your car and use it to cover the seats on your way home.
- Cover your phone/camera: You’ll want to bring it to take pictures, but wrap it tightly in clear plastic or put it in a Ziploc bag before the race – you don’t want any of that loose powder (made of corn starch) to get stuck in the lens.
- Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes!
- Use shampoo to wash the colors off yourself afterward: It’s the sodium laureth sulfate contained in most conventional shampoos that does the trick. It works much better than normal soap and gets the stains out of your skin easily.
- Expect to be color bombed, from head to toe: Skip the designer labels and stick to an outfit (including shoes) that you won’t mind transforming into an art canvas.
- Take your time: It’s not actually a race, and if you move slower through the color throwing checkpoints, you’ll get more colorized!
