Sudan to Receive $3 Billion Aid From the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia!
The United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have always been known to be on the forefront when it comes to supporting countries from the region. Billions of dollars have been spent over the years to support the economy and wellbeing of neighboring Arab states. In the same context, both states have announced a $3 billion aid package to Sudan.
Sudan has been living in economic hardships in recent years, and especially after the recent political unrest that took place. The lack of foreign currency resulted in huge inflation, which became a key factor behind the nationwide protests that led to the removal of President Omar Al-Bashir by the army this month.
The aid package was to strengthen the financial position and ease the pressure on the Sudanese pound. The aid includes a $500 million payment by the two countries to the central bank of Sudan. It is also to be spent on urgent needs such as food, medicine, and oil.
